What Is Dental Bonding?

Dental bonding is the application of composite resin, the same material used in composite fillings, to reshape and repair teeth. It’s an excellent solution for chipped, cracked, or broken teeth through a process called Bonded Restoration, which restores the tooth’s strength and appearance for a lasting, beautiful smile. Additionally, dental bonding can enhance your smile’s aesthetic appeal by addressing issues like teeth reshaping, color correction, and gap closure without the need for veneers.

How Does Dental Bonding Compare To Other Options?

When it comes to restoring your teeth or achieving your dream smile, there are various options to choose from, tailored to your specific needs. During your visit, we’ll gladly discuss all the available choices, laying out the pros and cons so you can make an informed decision.

However, let’s shine a spotlight on the perks of dental bonding:

1. Quick and Painless: Unlike some treatments that involve drilling or preparation, dental bonding is typically a breeze. You’ll experience minimal to no discomfort since very little of your natural tooth needs to be altered.

2. Affordable: For those looking for budget-friendly options, dental bonding is a fantastic choice. While more extensive treatments like veneers or orthodontics come with a higher price tag, bonding is a straightforward and cost-effective solution for minor changes.

3. Ideal for Small Repairs: If you’re thinking about transforming your smile in a big way, comprehensive treatments like veneers, crowns, or orthodontics might be the way to go. But if you have minor issues to address, dental bonding is the simplest and most convenient option available.

Rest assured, we’ll guide you through all your choices to help you achieve your perfect smile!

What to Expect at a Dental Bonding Appointment?

Whether you’re opting for dental bonding to restore a tooth or simply to enhance your smile’s aesthetics, the process remains the same. Here’s what you can expect during your dental bonding appointment:

Preparation

To begin, we take steps to protect your neighboring teeth by placing a thin plastic film called a dental matrix between them. This shield ensures that adjacent teeth are safeguarded from any stray preparation gel or composite resin. Next, your dentist will gently clean and dry the targeted tooth, followed by the application of a mildly acidic gel for a few seconds. This step provides the bonding material with a rough surface for better adherence.

Bonding Procedure

Once the acidic gel is removed, and your tooth is thoroughly dried, it’s time to apply the composite resin. Our dentist selects a resin shade that matches your natural teeth, ensuring a seamless and natural appearance. The composite resin is applied in layers, and a special blue light is used to cure each layer, ensuring maximum strength and durability.

Finishing Touches

After a final check of your bite, your dental bonding procedure is complete. As a finishing touch, our dentist will give your treated tooth a quick polish. The end result? Your bonded tooth looks beautiful and blends in naturally with the rest. In fact, you might even forget which tooth was repaired! We’ll keep a record of the procedure in your chart, and during future check-ups, your dentist will pay special attention to the bonded tooth to ensure it remains in top shape. Your smile is our priority!

Understanding the Cost of Dental Bonding

Determining the cost of dental bonding can vary widely depending on several factors. To provide you with an accurate estimate, we need to learn more about your specific needs and assess your teeth during an examination. However, here’s a rough idea of what to expect:

Cost Range: Dental bonding is a versatile treatment used for a wide range of purposes, making it challenging to provide a precise estimate without proper evaluation. Typically, the cost falls in the range of approximately $300 to $600 or more per tooth without insurance.

Insurance Coverage: Many insurance companies cover dental bonding, particularly when it’s required to restore a broken or damaged tooth. With insurance, your out-of-pocket expenses can be around $60 to $120 or more, depending on your plan.

Factors Considered: When determining the cost of your dental bonding treatment, we take several factors into account:

  • The number of teeth that require bonding.
  • Whether new x-rays are necessary.
  • The amount of composite resin needed for the procedure.
  • The location of the affected teeth in your mouth.
  • Your current overall oral health.

Get an Accurate Quote: It’s important to note that no dentist can provide an accurate quote over the phone. After a thorough examination, we’d be delighted to offer you a precise quote in person. This way, you can make an informed decision based on your final costs and personalized treatment plan.

Dr. Hartman did my cleaning so they could get me in faster even though the hygienists were booked. He and Jami were very personable, informative, and encouraging. I hadn't been to the dentist in a while and they didn't judge or make me feel bad. I will continue to go to Como Park Dental for my dentistry needs.

This was my first visit and I'm very happy I found them. Personable desk staff and dentist, excellent hygienist, and they have a great promo for brand new patients...an all inclusive price for the cleaning, exam, and ex-rays to get you started. The online form submission prior to the appointment was quite simple as well. Five stars for a very great first impression.

These guys are ALL! AWESOME!! Few months ago I had a bad tooth. My wife called and they got me in for a quick look the next morning. And ended up needing to be pulled. They got me back at the end of the same day to pull the tooth. Then made an appt for 12/26/23 for a routine exam etc.. since I only had the bad tooth taken care of previously. I needed a deep cleaning and I was worried my wife may lose her Dental insurance. So, these wonderful folks got me in the the next morning 12/27/23 to do a deep cleaning. Great Atmosphere. Lots of Laughter and friendliness. Warm greeting. Just Great! I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND COMO PARK DENTISTRY
