Seeking Relief and Treatment Options

Tooth extraction is a common dental procedure that can be performed with minimal pain or discomfort, whether you need a standard tooth removal or more complex dental surgery. Your dentist will numb the area around the tooth with a local anesthetic, so you won’t feel any pain during the procedure.
Tooth extraction becomes necessary for various reasons, including severe tooth decay, orthodontic treatment requirements, crowding, and fractured or broken teeth. However, it’s important to note that extraction may not always be the sole solution. If you’re dealing with tooth pain, we may have alternatives that can provide quick relief while preserving your tooth. Early detection is key in determining the most appropriate course of action.

If you are currently experiencing any of the following symptoms, please don’t hesitate to reach out:

  • Severe tooth pain.
  • Pain that intensifies with pressure or while chewing.
  • Jaw pain or stiffness.
  • Swollen gums around the affected tooth or teeth.
  • Indications of gum disease, such as discoloration, bleeding, or an unpleasant odor.

What to Expect During an Extraction Appointment

When you arrive for your tooth extraction appointment, our experienced dentist or oral surgeon will guide you through the entire process in a single visit. Here’s a brief overview of the steps involved, starting with assessing the need for tooth extraction to the actual procedure and post-care:

Exam & Evaluation

Our dental team will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of your symptoms and discuss all available options with you. Together, we will determine the most suitable approach to ensure the long-term health of your teeth.

The Removal Process

To ensure your comfort, we will administer a local anesthetic to numb the area where the tooth will be removed. For those who prefer it, sedation options are also available. Utilizing cutting-edge, minimally invasive techniques, our oral surgeons strive to make the extraction as smooth and gentle as possible. Your well-being and a speedy recovery are our top priorities.

Aftercare & Recovery

Following the procedure, we will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions. These guidelines will include information on how to care for your mouth during the healing process, what to expect as you recover, and steps to take if you encounter any issues. We are committed to ensuring your post-extraction recovery is as comfortable and trouble-free as possible.

Cost Of A Dental Extraction In St. Paul

The cost of a tooth extraction can vary based on several factors, including the complexity of the extraction, the tooth’s location, and the need for sedation or specialized equipment. Typically, under a standard insurance plan, patients can expect out-of-pocket expenses for a tooth extraction to range from approximately $100 to $200 or more. Without insurance coverage, the cost may extend from $200 to $600.

It’s important to note that no dental practice can provide an exact quote over the phone, as your treatment plan must be customized to your specific needs, a determination made after an oral examination. There are two main categories of tooth extraction:

1. Simple Tooth Extraction: This procedure is typically performed on visible teeth within the mouth and can be carried out by a general dentist using local anesthesia. Given its straightforward nature and lack of complications, the cost of a simple extraction is generally lower than that of more intricate extractions.

2. Surgical Tooth Extraction: A surgical tooth extraction is a more intricate procedure necessitating the expertise of an oral surgeon, often conducted at a dental surgery center. This type of extraction becomes necessary when a tooth is not easily visible or accessible, such as when it hasn’t fully erupted or has broken off at the gum line. Due to the specialized care and skill required for this procedure, it typically incurs a higher cost compared to a simple tooth extraction.

I had a great experience with Dr. Hartman. I am usually very nervous during dental visits, but Dr. Hartman was very patient and gentle. He ensures his patients are comfortable and answers all questions.

Dr. Hartman did my cleaning so they could get me in faster even though the hygienists were booked. He and Jami were very personable, informative, and encouraging. I hadn't been to the dentist in a while and they didn't judge or make me feel bad. I will continue to go to Como Park Dental for my dentistry needs.

This was my first visit and I'm very happy I found them. Personable desk staff and dentist, excellent hygienist, and they have a great promo for brand new patients...an all inclusive price for the cleaning, exam, and ex-rays to get you started. The online form submission prior to the appointment was quite simple as well. Five stars for a very great first impression.

These guys are ALL! AWESOME!! Few months ago I had a bad tooth. My wife called and they got me in for a quick look the next morning. And ended up needing to be pulled. They got me back at the end of the same day to pull the tooth. Then made an appt for 12/26/23 for a routine exam etc.. since I only had the bad tooth taken care of previously. I needed a deep cleaning and I was worried my wife may lose her Dental insurance. So, these wonderful folks got me in the the next morning 12/27/23 to do a deep cleaning. Great Atmosphere. Lots of Laughter and friendliness. Warm greeting. Just Great! I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND COMO PARK DENTISTRY
